The International Kitchen
The Challenge:
The International Kitchen–a premier culinary vacation company offering more than 90 unique cooking vacations in Italy, France and Spain–had been a Oneupweb client since 2002. Earning the International Kitchen hundreds of premium positions for critical keywords through natural search engine optimization (SEO), things were going well until mid-summer 2005. That’s when the International Kitchen hired an outside firm to redesign their site, and the firm neglected to include Oneupweb in the process.
Immediately Oneupweb noticed a dramatic drop in positions, and notified The International Kitchen, who then asked them for help with the following:
- Prevent further decline in positions, ensuring that The International Kitchen did not lose any further traffic to competitors.
- Regain positions held before the site redesign to move The International Kitchen back into the spotlight for premier culinary vacations.
- Increase visitors to their site to drive culinary vacation bookings.
The Tactics:
Oneupweb immediately implemented stop gap measures to prevent further decline. Then, Oneupweb worked with the site’s designer to optimize the new site from both technical and content perspectives.
The Results:
- Top-ten search engine positions for targeted search terms increased by more than 6,000 percent from the time Oneupweb started working with International Kitchen until mid-summer 2005. Top-thirty search engine positions increased by 2,400 percent in that same time period.
- Natural search positions, including top-ten and top-thirty positions for targeted search terms, are not only back to their stellar level from before the design change in mid-summer 2005, they have risen above previous levels.
