Yahoo! recently started displaying a business's location under the search ads. This means Yahoo! geo-targeted ads will now have city names and state names below them, just like Google. Elsewhere in the industry, a recent study indicates that 68% of all searchers only look at a single page of results before clicking on something else. It has never been more important to be on the first page of search results!

Attention B2B Marketers: The Time for Search is Now

It’s true. B2B decision makers and buyers have gone online—and they aren’t looking back. Businesses are increasingly going online for purchases, and prospects are anonymously gathering information on solutions to persistent and complicated challenges. In other words, your prospects are looking for information about your services online, and you need to ensure that they’re finding you where and when they’re looking. Now is the time to increase your visibility in search results, and translate that visibility to brand-building and lead generation. Now is the time for search.

Here are a few tips to convince upper management to integrate search into the marketing mix and start making a positive impact on the growth of your business.

Calculate Your Potential. A small boost in conversion rates can make a big difference in your bottom line. Show that off by calculating the opportunity for your future SEO and SEM campaigns. Oneupweb’s SEO and PPC Lead Opportunity Calculators will provide you with hard numbers, showing your potential for growth with SEM. You’ll find these calculators in our latest white paper, B2B Search Success.

Understand management’s business objectives and challenges. If management’s goals include generating leads, improving brand equity, growing market share or just selling more of everything, search works. Tailor your message to the company’s current goals and present challenges.

Focus on the benefits. Focus on the benefits of online marketing—not the processes. Explain to management how it’s going to dramatically increase website visitors, conversions and profits.

Schedule a Presentation and “Talk the Talk”. You’ve got SEM down cold. You know the benefits that will speak to the specific needs of your company. You have all the information you need to support SEM’s positive results and potential for success. So go ahead and schedule a presentation with upper management. Turn the key benefits of SEM into talking points. And remember—search makes sense.

To find out more about how search adapts to B2B challenges, read a real-life example of B2B success with SEM and calculate your own potential with search engine marketing, download Oneupweb’s white paper, B2B Search Success: Quantifying Search Engine Marketing Benefits for B2B Marketers.
