When Cyber Monday Looms…Get Social

When Cyber Monday Looms...Get Social

Black Friday and Cyber Monday loom on the horizon. Both mark high online traffic and conversion rates, not to mention extraordinary sales levels. Have you done all you can to grab shoppers’ attention and get your slice of holiday sales online? If you haven’t already, now is the time to get serious with your online marketing strategy. Now is the time to get social.

Four Things You Should be Doing Now:
  1. Create a Profile on MySpace and Facebook. By utilizing these social networks, you can connect with potential and current customers, and network with others based on specific interests and lifestyles. They also provide a forum where you can easily host videos and/or blogs, and receive messages and public posts from consumers. Remember to prominently place links on your profile to your retail site. Links are an important element in site optimization and allow your customers to navigate easily between your profile and retail site to find what they need. But remember—it is important to only create profiles with a set purpose, and to monitor those profiles frequently.

  2. Host a Discussion Board. Seventy-seven percent of all customers read user-generated product reviews. They treat them as a valuable resource. And there’s still time for your organization to benefit from user-generated content this holiday season. Create a discussion board or blog where visitors can post comments and communicate with each other. This should result in greater consumer involvement, more opportunities to communicate with your customers and more content for search engines. All of these benefits can lead to increased sales.

  3. Set Up an RSS Feed. RSS feeds are a great way to keep customers informed and automatically updated. And you can set them up for anything from blogs and podcasts to articles and
    press releases.

  4. Integrate, Integrate, Integrate. Provide support for your social marketing strategies with your other online and offline marketing tactics. If you produce a printed piece, like a direct mail flyer or an ad, mention your social promotions. Have pay per click ads lead to landing pages that can be tagged or shared. You can even direct people to your website and social initiatives through promotions at your brick-and-mortar store.
