Digital Marketing Tip
of the Month. Did you know you can lower lead acquisition costs and gain greater return with online media placement and planning? The best way to get started is to gather information about your target audience and create an audience profile. For example, if your audience is a group of fashion-obsessed bargain hunters, you can launch behaviorally targeted banner ads that will appear on the sites they're likely to frequent such as fashion magazine sites or auction-based sites like eBay or Bidz.com. Extra! Extra! Read All About It! Oneupweb's new paper entitled The Fusion of Search and Social Media and our website redesign received a lot of news media attention, with Online Media Daily, ClickZ and the Great Lakes IT Report all covering the news. Check out these and other stories at OneUpWeb.com.
In the Industry
TheSEMPO board has elected five new officers to manage the organization. These new directors include Jeffrey Pruitt, Sara Holoubek, Ron Jones, Dave Fall and Chris Boggs. Elsewhere in the industry, the Interactive Advertising Bureau (IAB) has announced the release of Click Measurement Guidelines, which set boundaries and rules for buying and selling cost-per-click (CPC) advertising. These rules were established to help define what a "click is" and establish standard terms for the buying and selling of "clicks." Social Media Trendz.
![]() As you've probably noticed, the industry is clamoring over "Twitter". Why are some saying that this social media phenomenon will be the next Google? Many feel it's because of the real-time conversation threads that allow the user to stay updated on breaking news. This type of conversation satisfies an "I want it now" need that many people look for while performing searches, giving Twitter the upper-hand in providing real-time search results. Care to converse on the subject? Send us a tweet @oneupweb. See You at the Multi-Unit Franchising Conference

Hot Off the Desk of Oneupweb CEO Lisa Wehr - Tweet! ![]() There seems to be a trend developing with my articles these past few months—they all revolve around social media. This should come as no surprise considering the huge growth and emphasis being placed on social media recently. In the January newsletter I used this space to outline different social outlets like Facebook, MySpace and LinkedIn. So this month, I want to spend some time focusing on a social network that's hot on my desk right now, and that's Twitter. While our company has had a Twitter presence for some time now, I recently started my own Twitter, and the results have been interesting. Not only am I able to engage in open conversation with clients, prospective clients and others–I've witnessed first-hand the unique kind of on-demand customer service Twitter can offer. I'm now more certain than ever that it's crucial for companies, and the decision makers at those companies, to become part of the conversation. People are going to talk and they are going to talk about brands they interact with. You not only need to monitor what is being said about your company, you need to get involved in the conversation. I challenge you to search for a brand name using Twitter's search engine. Take a look at what's being said about that brand, in real-time. Go ahead and search for your business. If you don't find what you're looking for, don't fret—get involved! Oneupweb's Fusion of Search and Social Media paper can provide you with important information about how to start optimizing your online social media presence. And of course, feel free to shoot me an email at info@oneupweb.com, send me a tweet@lisawehr or give me a call at 877.568.7477. I look forward to talking with you!
