A Standard of Excellence Web Award and Two Davey's.

It's time to celebrate. Oneupweb.com was awarded a B2B Standard of Excellence WebAward for outstanding achievement in web development. And, our "One for the Road" recipe book and OneUp Low-Down monthly newsletter both received silver Davey Awards after competing globally at the 5th Annual Davey Awards Competition. Not bad if we do say so ourselves. But the better news is that we've expanded our services to offer our award winning creative development and web design. Interested? Let's talk!

Hot Off the Desk of Lisa Wehr.

CEO, Lisa WehrWhoever imagined that a cell phone would fulfill so many roles? For me personally, my iPhone is my planner and my shopping list "regurgitater”. It's my song and artist identifier and voice note recorder. It's my constant connection to Twitter and Facebook as well as my campground and Wi-Fi locator. While several thousand other iPhone applications exist, the hottest things across my desk this week are the seven iPhone apps I can't live without.

  • Facebook App: I'm a Facebook junkie and this app allows me to check and update my Facebook account while I'm away from my computer. It's an easy way to navigate Facebook using icons that allow one touch access to popular Facebook sections—like my newsfeed, profile, friends, inbox, etc. Super convenient—and convenience is key when it comes to my chaotic calendar.
  • Mixero Twitter App: I'm a person with a limited amount of time to do pretty much anything, which makes the Mixero Twitter app one of my faves. It allows me to manage my Twitter account right from my iPhone. Settings allow me to create groups and name specific people that I want to follow. I can also set up alerts for my company and any keyword of my choice and it will automatically let me know when someone mentions something from one of the alerts I have created. It also sets up shortened URLs automatically, uploads pictures straight from my iPhone to my Twitter account, and includes avatar pictures of those I'm following. Pretty nifty.
  • iPhone Recorder: It's a sound recorder made exclusively for the iPhone. It's a convenient way to record reminders, meetings, interviews, grocery and to-do lists, and more. So forget the pen and paper.
  • Midomi-Song and Artist Identifier: This application allows you to search for a song by humming or singing the tune right into your iPhone. You can also capture a song you hear on television or the radio by recording a small quip of it using the Midomi app, and it will then help you to identify the song. It saves you from the humiliation of having to sing a tune to a friend in hopes they'll be able to identify the song. Pretty groundbreaking.
  • Doodlejump: My favorite iPhone game, hands down. I'm not going to try to explain it in depth because it's one of those things you have to play yourself to understand. But in laymen's terms, the goal is to make it as far as you can without dying. It's not one of the most downloaded paid apps for no reason. Great when you're waiting in the airport or doctor's office.
  • Free Wi-Fi Finder: The Wi-Fi Finder makes it easy to search for free Wi-Fi hotspots wherever I am or plan on being. It's not limited to finding only free connections—because we all know sometimes those desperate moments arise when we'll empty our wallets for a Wi-Fi accessible spot.
  • CT RV Parks: I love to camp with my son. This app provides complete campground listings based on particular specifications, without an internet connection. It provides directions to each park, finds parks within your defined distance specifications and much more. The opportunities are endless—so my advice to all of you camping buffs out there, this is an app you can't be without.

The iPhone has revolutionized the way we live. Twitter, Facebook and complete campground listings are now at our fingertips. And, with these new developments come significant changes within the marketing industry. What's this mean for you? It means that the way you reach your consumers needs to change too. It's crucial for marketers to take advantage of the new opportunities at their fingertips. And whether it's integrating mobile into your marketing mix or a cutting edge iPhone application, Oneupweb can help with all of your digital marketing needs.

So shoot me an email at info@oneupweb.com, request a proposal or give me a call at 877.568.7477 to learn how you can get started. I look forward to exploring these opportunities with you.

JGB Distributing & Invisible Fence® Brand: Feeding the Web

We sat down with Laura Wright, Chief Marketing Officer at JGB Distributing, Inc. & Invisible Fence® Brand to talk about her marketing outlook for JGB in 2010, and some of the unique challenges the company has faced and overcome under her direction this year.

A Oneupweb client since 2008, JGB Distributing has over 100 dealers in the US and Canada and is the largest distributor in the world for Invisible Fence®. With every dealer independently owning and operating their business—maintaining the consistent brand identity that Invisible Fence® is known for poses some distinct marketing challenges. Add to that the fact that nearly all of their sales close offline and it's clear that JGB's unique infrastructure calls for an equally unique and well orchestrated marketing strategy.

With the help of Oneupweb, JGB has that covered and their marketing plan continues to evolve with new strategies needed to stay on top.

Like many other businesses, JGB felt the pinch of the economy in 2009 as the market filled with lower-priced, inferior products. Recognizing this, JGB's marketing team took the necessary steps to not only drive sales leads and demand for the Invisible Fence® Brand and JGB's dealers, but also to uphold the integrity of the premier pet safety brand. By integrating a good mix of digital marketing initiatives into their traditional blend of broadcast, print and sophisticated direct mail campaigns, JGB was able to maintain lead generation and sales without compromising the strength or reputation of the Invisible Fence® brand.

By successfully harnessing the power of the web and online marketing to drive offline sales—JGB has been able to help dealers continue to obtain the in-home appointments critical to driving sales for their operation using efficiently targeted paid search campaigns and custom landing pages. In fact, in the last year, JGB's marketing team notes that while sales leads may have dipped a bit in one of their Midwestern regions—close ratios and contract sizes in that same region actually rose.

As the JGB marketing team looks to 2010, their marketing budget will continue to "feed the web” incorporating new digital tactics with increasingly sophisticated and targeted direct mail and broadcast campaigns.

"We're going to be expanding our PPC efforts and will continue to feed the web because we believe it's where people are going,” says Wright. "Additionally, we're looking into mobile advertising and some other tactics that we haven't tried yet.”

Increasingly digital and evolving to meet the needs of their consumers? We think it's safe to say JGB understands the power of being relentless. They're smart marketers, committed to success and we're happy to have the opportunity to continue to help them grow and succeed, both online and off, in 2010.

Thanks for taking the time to speak with us about your marketing challenges, feats and goals. It's been a pleasure!
