WHAT’S YOUR AVERAGE DAY LIKE AT ONEUPWEB?
There is no average day at Oneupweb, they’re all a little different. That said, my days generally involve internal strategy meetings, connecting with clients, poring through data and writing. It’s the perfect balance of data and creativity, and there’s always a hearty dose of laughter in this office.
WHAT’S YOUR FAVORITE BLOG AND WHY?
I can’t get enough of Molly Yeh’s blog. As a food blogger in my spare time, it’s no surprise my favorite blog is food-focused. Molly’s stories of life on the farm in North Dakota always put a smile on my face. Her photography is stellar and her recipes even better!
WHAT MAKES TRAVERSE CITY APPEALING?
I grew up a few towns north in Petoskey, so the shores of Lake Michigan have always played an important role in my life. I’ve traveled far and wide, but nothing beats northern Michigan’s coastlines. Traverse City offers the perfect balance of lake life, small town charm and just enough happening to make it an exciting place to live.
I’ll never again live somewhere I can’t jump in the lake every day of summer!
WHAT DO YOU DO WHEN YOU’RE NOT AT WORK?
I have a lot of hobbies (like swimming, gardening, hiking and canoeing) but I spend a lot of my hours on my side hustle – a little business called Toot Sweet. I work as a food photographer and offer general marketing help to small local food businesses while also writing and photographing a food blog packed with my own recipes. It’s mostly baked goods and the office has been known to benefit from my baking habits!
YEARS FROM NOW, WHAT WILL STICK OUT MOST ABOUT 2017?
I moved back to Traverse City from Portland, OR, got a new job (hey Oneupweb!) and bought a house – so I’d say it was a pretty darn memorable year!
IT’S 5:30 PM – WHAT’S YOUR COCKTAIL OF CHOICE?
I’m a whiskey girl and if I’m drinking cocktails, I almost always order either a Manhattan or a well whiskey ginger, depending where I am and how cheap I’m feeling.
WHAT’S THE LAST SONG YOU INTENTIONALLY LISTENED TO?
I’m a big fan of Vulfpeck, a funk band made up of U of M music school grads from my college years. They just dropped a new album called “Mr. Finish Line” and of course I listened on my way to work this morning.
FAVORITE SPOTIFY/PANDORA/GROOVESHARK STATION?
I’m a sucker for Spotify’s “Hit Rewind” playlist.
WHAT’S YOUR SECRET GUILTY PLEASURE?
In general I’m pretty opposed to fast food, and I’m picky about what I eat, but I can’t get enough of Culver’s cheese curds. They’re my go-to road trip snack every single time.
FAVORITE BOOK/MOVIE/ALBUM/TV SHOW, ETC. …?
- Book: “Bel Canto” by Ann Patchett
- Movie: I once had a job in which the most important interview question was, “What is your favorite movie?” It changes over time, but my all-time favorite is “Harold and Maude.” Plus it definitely got me that job!
- TV Show: “Gilmore Girls” – I’ve seen every episode more times than I can count.
TELL US SOMETHING WEIRD/UNIQUE/QUIRKY ABOUT YOURSELF.
I have a dual citizenship with Ireland, so I can easily run away to the EU anytime I want!
WHAT’S ONE OF LIFE’S SIMPLE PLEASURES?
The magical fact that butter, sugar, eggs and flour can become so many different baked goods!
THE INTERNET IS LISTENING: GIVE US YOUR WORDS TO LIVE BY.
