Oneupweb : Creating Waves with ActionScript – pt. 2!

Posted on in Blog

This is a quick followup to my last post, Creating Waves with ActionScript, in which I demonstrated how to create an animated wave effect using flash. As I mentioned before, the whole purpose of generating that effect was for a project that I was working on at the time, which I’m glad to say is now complete. Here are a few screenshots to point out how the effect was applied:

Wavy Banners

The first example simulates two banners which wave dynamically while floating in z-space.

Endless “Power Stream”

Next, a laptop opens to reveal an endless stream effect, giving the illusion of waves flowing out of the center.

Fluid Backdrop

Finally, to help set the mood, a slow-flowing wave is added as the backdrop to our services screens.

I’d like to see someone using this method in creative new ways. If you come up with anything, or would like further clarification on producing it, please leave a comment! To see the effect in motion, visit www.oneupweb.com and watch the intro header.
