Break out the noise makers, the 2011 hats and the champagne—tomorrow is New Year’s eve. As people around the world prepare to celebrate the new year, several are making resolutions about things they want to do differently in the year to come. Common New Year’s resolutions include exercising more, eating better and losing weight (at least, those are usually my New Year’s resolutions). And if you’re anything like me, by about January 10 your New Year’s resolution has gone out the window.
So this year, I’m making a different resolution. Spurred by a trending video on YouTube, I will not text while driving.
This video by AT&T has received 530,236 views since it was posted on December 20, 2010. 804 comments have been made about the video, with 1,259 likes and 38 dislikes.
According to YouTube Trends, the video is most popular among viewers 55 and older.
I think this is a meaningful video that packs a powerful punch. I can’t tell you how many times I have texted someone while driving. Thinking back, I can’t remember what those texts were. They certainly weren’t more important than my safety or the safety of those around me.
