Oneupweb : The Animated GIF Comeback

Posted on in Blog

I’m huge fan of retro and vintage inspired styles. I see nothing wrong with taking something from the past and making it the future. Enter the animated gif. Back in the 90’s, Geocities (along with Lycos and Angelfire) and their wonderful library of animated gifs was “da bomb” (90’s slang word for great) and gave the cheesy animated gif it’s popularity. Not only is it cool to use animated gifs (check out the “I Am Not An Artist” website or Kanye West’s “POWER” video) but thanks to the Geocities-izer, you can make your favorite websites travel back in time and become a 90’s site, complete with animated gifs!

With all the gif buzz, I decided to hunt the interweb abyss for a few impressive animated gif specimens. I found myself browsing through countless gifs that either made me chuckle or smile with creative approval. Below are a few of those. *Disclaimer! Viewing these may cause seizures.
