What’s your average day like at Oneupweb?

I write. All sorts of stuff. I love it. Sprinkle in some SEO and call it day.

What’s your favorite blog and why?

Wait But Why. What better way to discuss serious/interesting/informative/sad issues than stick figures and witty prose. I also love the daily email from The Hustle.

What makes Traverse City appealing?

Have you looked around?! We live in paradise.

What do you do when you’re not at work?

I have too many hobbies. If it involves being outside, water, good food, physical activity, or taking it apart, I’m probably trying and failing at it. Other than that, I’m all about deep meaningful conversations with my dog.

It’s 5:30 pm – what’s your cocktail of choice?

PBR. If you’re buying, gin and tonic.

What’s the last song you intentionally listened to?

All of the songs on Ben Howard’s new album

Favorite book/movie/album/TV show, etc.?

Book: Anything by John McPhee

Movie: “The Life Aquatic” (or any Wes Anderson film)

Album: Can’t decide

TV Show: “MeatEater” on Netflix

Describe yourself in 3 to 5 words.

Gregarious, introverted hermit.

What’s your secret guilty pleasure?

It’s not a secret and I don’t feel guilty about it – I’m known to put away serious amounts of food. Breakfast food is my favorite food to turn on the ol’ mouth vacuum. I’m always the guy at the table asking people if they’re gonna finish that. Yup, I’m that guy. This will probably become secret and guilty in a few years, until then, nosh on!

What’s one of life’s simple pleasures?

The first cup of coffee in the morning with my wife.

The internet is listening: Give us your words to live by.

Read more books and leave your phone at home once in a while.
