Ecommerce has changed a lot since the first secure online purchase in 1994 (it was a large pizza from Pizza Hut just in case you were curious).

By 2003 more than 20 percent of all Americans had broadband internet in their home (that number is now closer to 73 percent) which contributed to the fast growing eCommerce industry.

In the early 2010s the rise of the smartphone started to change the way that eCommerce needed to function. Reason 4: 4 out of 5 consumers use smartphones to shop.

Reason 5: As of 2017 mobile commerce was 34 percent of all transactions and is predicted to double over the next year.

Reason 6: 82 percent of smartphone users rely on their device to make a product decision.

Reason 7: 78 percent of the retail industry has already adopted mobile commerce.

Reason 8: 93 percent of people who use mobile to research go on to complete a purchase, often at the physical store location.

Reason 9: Cyber Monday Sales are up 30 percent and mobile sales are up 96 percent since 2011.
