LinkedIn Launches University Pages, Lowers Age Requirements

The launch of University Pages brings more attention to the expanding market share and functionality of LinkedIn.

The new college profile allows members to see how many of a school’s alumni are on LinkedIn, a breakdown of the main industries they work in and a list of top graduate employers. An estimated 200 universities have already adopted these pages with more being given access in coming weeks.

Also, starting September 13th in the United States, users aged 14 and up will be able to sign up for LinkedIn, create a profile and interact with University pages to help them decide on the right college.

While extremely relevant to the education and career-development industry, these updates are a sign of the evolution of LinkedIn as a branding, content marketing and lead generating tool that shouldn’t be ignored.
