Oneupweb : Anonymous Requesting Facebook Users Leave Network Nov 5th

Posted on in Blog

Anonymous is calling for yet another “leave Facebook day,” and this time the date is set for the 5th of November 2011. Below is a video uploaded July 16th by the YouTube channel titled FacebookOp stating the reasons for the request.

Anonymous is claiming that Facebook has been selling users’ information to government agencies:

“Facebook has been selling information to government agencies and giving clandestine access to information security firms so that they can spy on people from all around the world. Some of these so-called whitehat infosec firms are working for authoritarian governments, such as those of Egypt and Syria.”

Facebook has also been criticized for not allowing users to delete their accounts—ever. Now anonymous has joined the opposition of this highly criticized Facebook practice.

“Everything you do on Facebook stays on Facebook regardless of your ‘privacy’ settings, and deleting your account is impossible, even if you ‘delete’ your account, all your personal info stays on Facebook and can be recovered at any time. Changing the privacy settings to make your Facebook account more ‘private’ is also a delusion.”

Are you planning on leaving Facebook? Will you remember the 5th of November? Do you feel the same as anonymous when they say:

“We have the right to not be surveilled, not be stalked, and not be used for profit. We have the right to not live as slaves.”
