Meet Audrey – Organizer, Problem Solver and Collaborator

Audrey Steele, Production Administrative Assistant

I grew up in Massachusetts, just outside of Boston. As a lover of all things active and creative, I followed a passion for theater up until high school graduation, when I hit the road and joined an AmeriCorps team of wildland firefighters. I ultimately ended up studying Environmental Studies at UMass Boston and went on to become a certified yoga teacher and climbing instructor in Colorado. While studying in college, I began a personal assisting job that allowed me to put my smorgasbord of acquired skills to use as an excellent organizer, problem solver, and collaborator.

What’s your average day like at Oneupweb?

First, coffee (and bumping Rob on Condario approvals in exchange for a cinnamon roll). A large part of my job is assisting with pre-production tasks to prepare our team for photo shoots, commercials, and all things production. Behind the scenes, I’m writing production plans, sourcing locations and talent, and selecting brand-specific props for our shoots. On set, I could be doing anything from staging a kitchen mess to simulating a near-miss car accident.

What do you like most about Oneupweb?

As a newcomer to the Midwest, Oneupweb provided me with a community that stretched beyond the typical workday; I have enjoyed coffee dates on summer Fridays with co-workers and long days on set that ended with great conversations hunched over Chinese food. Above all, Oneupweb has provided me with an environment focused on opportunity that’s not limited to my team. The option to attend trainings held by the other departments has really helped me excel in my role.

What do you do when you’re not at work?
If I’m feeling social: Meet friends for a creative experience of some kind, see live music, visit a new restaurant or bar, yoga, bike, travel.
If I’m feeling anti-social: Go on a hike with my dog, Theo, write, read a good book in the bath, or do house projects.

What are life’s simple pleasures?
The changing of seasons, sharing a meal with friends, a really good playlist.

Describe yourself in three words?
Thoughtful, Creative, Spontaneous
